Dear Sir,
As we approach Mother’s Day, I want to take a moment to honour not only the mums we’ll be hugging this Sunday, but also the many women whose love, sacrifice, and strength often go unseen.
To the mothers juggling the daily mental load with quiet resilience — from lunchboxes and laundry to late-night worry and endless lists — we see you. The emotional load you carry every day is immense, and your work underpins our families, our communities, and our future.
To the stepmums, grandmothers, aunties, and others who have stepped into the role of “mum” — thank you. The title doesn’t come from biology alone, but from the care, kindness, and unconditional support you give.
To those longing to become mothers, and those carrying the heartbreak of loss — please know you are in my thoughts this Mother’s Day. Your grief and hope are both powerful, and you are not alone. I see you. I am you.
And to those who are missing their mum this weekend — may memories bring comfort, and may you feel surrounded by the love she gave and the legacy she leaves.
Mother’s Day is a chance to celebrate, but also to acknowledge that for many, it’s complicated. To all the women carrying love and responsibility, visible or not — thank you. Your strength shapes our world.
Wishing everyone a gentle and meaningful Mother’s Day.
Warm regards,

Jade Benham MP
