Nationals’ Member for Mildura, Jade Benham, was delighted to recently host the Northern Mallee Leaders Study Tour at Parliament House as a part of their 2024 Study trip.
The NMLP Melbourne Study Trip is designed to deepen participants’ understanding of the relationship between Regional Victoria and its capital.
This year’s trip focuses on key themes including Community Inclusion, Economic Prosperity, and Environmental Sustainability. Participants will explore the differences, similarities, strengths, and challenges between metropolitan and regional communities.
“The group were very engaged and asked some hard-hitting questions,” said Ms Benham.
A highlight of the trip is the Parliament Day sessions, featuring keynote speakers who engaged with program participants for 30 minutes, followed by a Q&A segment.
These sessions aim to educate participants on the daily operations and mechanics of Parliament, while also broadening their understanding of leadership and politics.
Speakers were encouraged to share their thoughts, perspectives, and valuable leadership lessons, enriching the participants’ learning experience.
Program leader Jo Marie said, “Parliament Day was the highlight and favourite amongst the group during their reflection.
“They loved meeting and hearing from Jade and other members of parliament.”
