Member for Mildura Jade Benham has completed the Starlight Super Swim and in doing so visited 16 pools or lakes around her electorate throughout the course of February.
Ms Benham visited the community pool at Werrimull early Tuesday before capping off the fundraiser with a two kilometre swim at Mildura Waves in the afternoon.
Prep and Year One students at Werrimull P-12 School cheered Ms Benham on during her swim and enjoyed a lesson or two in swimming after she had completed her laps.
Accounting for the two weeks of parliamentary sitting in February, Ms Benham travelled more than 2000 kilometres in a fortnight, swimming close to 17 kilometres in municipality pools.
Visiting the community pools within the electorate has been a beneficial and enlightening experience for Ms Benham, as she met and spoke with many of the municipality’s residents along the way, learning what issues are impacting on their communities most.
The funds Ms Benham has raised during the Super Swim go towards hospital programs delivered daily to children around Australia lifting their spirits, building resilience and forming an integral part of their care.
Ms Benham has raised $1100, fulfilling her goal of $1000 on Monday, after a donation from a group of family businesses in Donald, who acknowledged her laps around Donald’s Park Lake.
