The Nationals’ Member for Mildura, Jade Benham, is pleased to announce the recipients of the latest round of the Aboriginal Sport Participation Grant Program, with clubs and groups across the state sharing in more than $100,000 to support Indigenous athletes in their sporting endeavours.
Among the successful recipients is the Robinvale Manatunga Sports Club, which has been awarded $3,000 to assist with travel costs as they compete in the VACSAL state-wide football & netball carnival. This grant will help ensure the club’s athletes have the opportunity to showcase their skills at the highest level.
The Aboriginal Sport Participation Grant Program provides vital support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander athletes and communities, with grants of up to $1,000 available for team uniforms and sports equipment, and up to $2,500 for travel expenses. These funds enable clubs to participate in both Victorian and national competitions.
Individual athletes can also benefit from the program, with grants of up to $250 available for the purchase of sporting uniforms and equipment, and up to $750 for travel expenses, ensuring Indigenous athletes have the resources they need to succeed.
“Programs like this play a crucial role in fostering talent and supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to participate in sports.
“It’s fantastic to see our local Robinvale Manatunga Sports Club benefiting from this round of funding,” said Ms Benham.
