The Nationals’ Member for Mildura, Jade Benham, has announced a commitment to build a new ambulance station at Irymple under a Nationals Government.
The existing station, housed in a former Lower Murray Water building, would be demolished and replaced with a modern, purpose-built facility.
The new station would increase capacity from two to three ambulances and provide for six additional paramedics.
“Irymple is the fastest-growing town in our region, and our emergency services need to grow with it,” Ms Benham said.
“This commitment means more ambulances on the road, more paramedics and better access to emergency care for local families.”
Ms Benham said local paramedics had raised concerns about the condition of the existing station for years.
“This building was never designed to be an ambulance station. After years of patch-up fixes, it’s time to give our paramedics a fresh start and provide the modern facilities they deserve.”
The commitment forms part of The Nationals’ plan to strengthen health and emergency services across regional Victoria.
“This is exactly what The Nationals’ Fair Share Guarantee is about, making sure regional Victorians get their fair share of investment in essential services,” Ms Benham said.
“We know ramping at Mildura Base Public Hospital is a real issue. Our commitment to expand the hospital will help address that, but we also need more ambulance capacity.
“A new station at Irymple means more paramedics, more ambulance capacity and better emergency care for the Mildura electorate.”
