Benham applauds teamwork and skills at Emergency Services training day
The Nationals’ Member for Mildura, Jade Benham, has praised the dedication, coordination, and technical skills of local emergency services personnel after attending a joint training day held at the Victoria Emergency Management Training Centre Sunraysia training grounds.
The event, hosted by the CFA Sunraysia Group of Brigades, brought together volunteers and staff from the Country Fire Authority (CFA), the State Emergency Service (SES), and Ambulance Victoria (AV). The training exercise was designed to strengthen inter-agency cooperation and showcase the skills and responsiveness of the region’s first responders in simulated emergency scenarios.
“It was genuinely impressive to witness our emergency services working together so seamlessly,” Ms Benham said. “The capabilities and teamwork shown by our first responders is nothing short of phenomenal. Watching them in action — responding swiftly, communicating clearly, and demonstrating expert technical knowledge — reminds me just how lucky we are to have such dedicated individuals serving our region.”
She also commended the ongoing commitment of volunteers and frontline staff who continue to train and prepare for all types of emergency situations.
“These men and women give so much of themselves to protect others. Whether it’s fire, flood, accident, or medical emergency, they are there — ready, trained, and willing,” Ms Benham added. “I know I say it a lot, but I can’t help but be in total awe of what we, as a community, receive from our first responders.”
Ms Benham said she would continue to advocate for the resources and recognition these essential services need to operate effectively.
“Our emergency services are the backbone of community safety, especially in rural and regional areas like ours,” she said. “They deserve our full support — not only through words but through action and investment.”
