The Nationals’ Member for Mildura, Jade Benham, commends Travis Coombs and Sunraysia Community Health Services (SCHS) for their tireless efforts in advocating for the Community Paramedic Program.
Mr Coombs on behalf of SCHS recently presented the program’s substantial benefits to the Minister for Health, community health organisations across the state, and several Ministers and MPs, emphasising the critical role of community paramedics in enhancing healthcare access, especially in rural and remote regions where resources are limited.
“Sunraysia Community Health Services has been relentless in highlighting the importance of community-based care for our region,” said Ms. Benham.
“The Community Paramedic Program seeks to alleviate the strain on emergency and hospital services by providing accessible, preventative, and in-home care, allowing patients to avoid unnecessary emergency room visits and receive support within their communities.”
Ms Benham is calling on the government to prioritise this essential program and provide the funding needed to ensure its rollout across Victoria.
“We urge the Government to recognise the tremendous value of this program and allocate the resources necessary to extend its reach,” Ms Benham said.
“At a time when our healthcare system is stretched to its limits, this program offers a practical and immediate solution to deliver timely and effective care.”
Together, Ms Benham and SCHS are hopeful that their advocacy will secure the investment required to make the Community Paramedic Program a statewide priority, delivering accessible and timely care to residents in all corners of Victoria.
