The Nationals’ Member for Mildura, Jade Benham, this week visited Donald on an electorate tour with Member for Northern Victoria, Gaelle Broad MP.
“Donald is a small town with a huge heart and an even bigger manufacturing sector, which has the potential to get even bigger,” Ms Benham said.
Australian Eatwell is one of the leading plant-based and organic producers for major supermarkets Australia-wide including the veggie patties for Nando’s. It is a local business employing up to 50 people.
“It’s small businesses like this making a large contribution to our nation that the Victorian Government need to support with the Made In Victoria Manufacturing Growth Program,” Said Ms Benham.
Ms Benham also toured the new Kookas facility which was established at Donald in 1991, supplying biscuits to millions of Australians. This locally grown business is continuously growing.
“It is exciting to see the evolution of an idea with a few mates around a campfire 30 years ago,” Says Ms Benham.
“To see something of this grandeur in regional Victoria is so promising for the future growth of small towns.”
“Who knows maybe the ‘Big Kookaburra” could just be the next Australian icon.”
