I have been bursting at the seams with pride and excitement over the recent events that have taken place in our wonderful community recently and wish to acknowledge the organisations and thousands of volunteers who have made them all possible.
I was told by one of the balloonists that recently visited for the Big Balloon Bash that Night Glows are the best part of the sport. They were not wrong. The Christie Centre Night Glow was spectacular in every sense of the word. Visually spectacular, a fundraising spectacular for one of Mildura’s most brilliant organisations, and I’m told by my sources that even the Mildura Police were impressed by the fact that it was incident free. Take a bow Florence and the Christie Centre. Take a bow.
The Hattah Desert Race was a spectacular display of endurance and skill, attracting families & teams from across the country. This iconic event, known as Australia’s toughest desert race, not only highlights the rugged beauty of our local landscape but also underscores the community’s commitment to supporting and celebrating motorsport and to be able to congratulate Callum Norton, who has been racing Hattah since 2012 and has now won his first as a senior is just magnificent!
The tireless efforts of the Northwest Victoria Motorcycle Club committee, organisers and over 400 volunteers ensured that this year’s race was a resounding success. Let’s hope it continues for many years to come.
Dreamtime at the P was also held recently at the Mildura Sporting Precinct which is a wonderful curtain raiser to this week’s Indigenous Rounds in local leagues. A night full of representation across both women and men’s team in football and netball. The Millewa Football Netball League along with Mallee Tigers and Broken Hill all came together to showcase their talents and spirit.
These events like many in our region are a testament to the strong sense of community and the diverse cultural tapestry that makes Mildura such a special place to live. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in organising these events, as well as to the participants and attendees who made them so memorable.
As The Nationals’ Member for Mildura, I am committed to continuing to support, promote & be involved in amazing events that celebrate our community’s diversity & bring our community closer together.
