The Nationals’ Member for Mildura, Jade Benham, is excited to celebrate the remarkable achievements of Josh Waters, who currently leads the Australian Superbike Championship.
Ms Benham recently spoke with Josh as a part of her newly established podcast: ‘Nat Chat – A common sense podcast.’ and upon return to Parliament will launch and chair the very first Parliamentary Friends of Motorsport in a bid to lift Mildura’s motorsport profile, but also to assist in advocacy for the sport.
Josh Waters’ impressive performance on the racetrack has been nothing short of sensational, and yet he just goes about his day to day as one of the most humble human beings you’ve ever met. His determination, work ethic & skill have also secured him a position on the Ducati Team Kagayama in the Suzuka 8 Hour, an event which he is part of for the eleventh time; a testament to his hard work and passion for the sport.
Ms Benham expressed her admiration for Josh, stating that “Josh is at the very top of his sport on a national level, and is off to compete on an international level.”
“How is he not front page of newspapers and across every TV news service in Victoria, or at least locally?”
“His cousin, two time Repco Supercar Championship runner up, Cam Waters, has Tickford Racing to promote his incredible success, and they do a brilliant job.
“Josh is out here with no team infrastructure, trying to run a business and raise a family, all the while, be an international motorcycle superstar.” said Ms Benham.
“All I’m saying is that if Josh were drafted to the AFL, we’d all know about it, so perhaps do our local motorsport champions the respect of turning on the TV to tune in to the Australian Superbikes on SBS this weekend.
Josh Waters’ ascent to the top of the Australian Superbike Championship is a proud moment for Mildura and a perfect example of just one motorsport champion to come out of our region.
“I’m now motorsports champion on Spring Street, officially.”
