The Nationals’ Member for Mildura, Jade Benham, is encouraging local sporting clubs to apply for funding through the latest round of the Sporting Club Grants Program.
The program offers a range of grants to help strengthen grassroots sport and recreation, support volunteers, and ensure clubs continue to thrive in local communities for generations to come.
Grants of up to $5,000 are available to improve the skills and knowledge of volunteers, coaches, and officials, while up to $4,000 is on offer to help clubs deliver new programs and activities to the community.
Additional funding includes up to $1,000 for uniforms and equipment, and $750 travel grants to help clubs participate in competitions away from home.
“Community sport is the heartbeat of our towns, and volunteers are the ones who keep it all running,” Ms Benham said.
“With families busier than ever, it’s vital that we support and retain our local volunteers who give up their time to coach, umpire and keep our clubs strong.”
Ms Benham said the grants also make it easier for clubs to remove financial barriers for players and expand opportunities for participation.
“Financial assistance for travel is especially important for clubs in the Mildura electorate, where teams are often required to travel long distances for competitions.
“I encourage all local clubs to apply for funding, be it to support their volunteers, improve their facilities, or help more people get active and involved.
“I’m also happy to provide a letter of support for any local applications.”
