Dear Sir,
I would like to commend La Trobe University on the wonderful news they have secured funding to co-design a Heart Health Check Kit for rural Australians. This important initiative will enable individuals to monitor their heart health from home—an especially vital service in regions where access to cardiac care is limited.
Championed by dedicated local heart health advocate Katrina Umback, the project will address the significant barriers rural communities face in accessing timely and effective heart health screening. The kit has the potential to save countless lives, particularly in communities like Mildura, where there is no Catheterisation Lab or accessible heart disease screening program.
Katrina’s tireless efforts to raise awareness about heart disease and expand cardiac services across regional Victoria deserve special recognition. Her advocacy continues to make a real difference in the lives of many.
I encourage anyone interested in participating in the trial phase of this project to reach out to La Trobe University at hearthealthcheck@latrobe.edu.au.
Congratulations to all involved in making this life-saving initiative a reality.
