Dear Editor,
I would like to wish everyone across the Mildura electorate a happy and safe Easter.
Easter is a special time for communities to come together, enjoy quality time with family and friends, and support local businesses. It offers an opportunity to pause, reflect, and appreciate the traditions and connections that make our region so strong.
Whether you’re celebrating its religious meaning or simply enjoying the break, I hope this long weekend provides a meaningful opportunity to enjoy all that our community has to offer.
While our communities face growing uncertainty, it is fantastic to see our region coming alive as we welcome visitors from near and far. Events such as the Powersports, Listo Trapeze, Magenta Art Show and Psyche Pumps Running Day are once again putting our region on full display. It is something we can all take pride in that, despite these challenges, visitors continue to choose Mildura as their destination.
One event in particular stands out as Mildura’s jewel in the crown: the Good Friday Show and Shine. This highlight of our events calendar draws crowds from across the region and showcases the very best of our community spirit, creativity and energy.
At a time when many families are feeling the pressure of rising living costs, economic uncertainty and fuel supply concerns, this strong visitor economy is more important than ever. Tourism not only celebrates everything our region has to offer, it also provides a vital boost to local businesses and the wider economy.
Thank you to the volunteers, emergency services, local businesses and event organisers who work tirelessly to make this Easter weekend such a success, often giving up their own time with loved ones to support our community.
With more traffic on our roads, I urge everyone to take care when travelling. For those camping or enjoying our great outdoors, please follow the relevant guidelines to stay safe and protect our environment.
However you spend it, I hope you find a moment to pause, enjoy a hot cross bun and make the most of time with those closest to you.
Warm regards,
