Dear Editor,
As their schooling journey draws to a close, I would like to extend my best wishes to Year 12 students across the region who will finish their studies or sit their final exams over the coming weeks.
You are to be commended for your hard work and commitment to your studies. You should all feel incredibly proud of how far you’ve come and all that you’ve achieved over the past 13 years of schooling.
You will look back on this year, maybe now or maybe years from now, and realise that what you learned was more than English or economics. You learned how determined, resilient and capable you really are.
Exams can feel challenging, stressful and a little overwhelming all at once. Remember, they are just one part of your journey. Do your best and don’t forget to look after yourself along the way. While exams are important, they don’t define who you are or what your future looks like. They’re simply one step along a much bigger journey. Whether your next adventure takes you to university, a trade, further training, or straight into the workforce, everyone’s path to success is different.
I would also like to thank the parents, families and teachers who have supported this year’s cohort with encouragement and guidance.
Throughout the year I’ve had the pleasure of visiting many local schools and meeting an impressive group of young people. I know first-hand that our local schools are full of bright, capable and community-minded students who will go on to do great things.
To all our future leaders I say congratulations on reaching this milestone and good luck for the exciting future ahead.
