Nationals’ Member for Mildura, Jade Benham, completed 3,066 push ups and raised over $1,500 in her team raising much needed funds for Lifeline Loddon Mallee as part of The Push for Better Foundation challenge 2023.
All funds raised will go towards mental health and crisis support services, helping to break stigmas and provide hope to those struggling with their mental health, so no one is going through their darkest moments alone.
“Money raised by team ‘BenhamUP’ means two extra volunteers will be trained on the team equalling a staggering 624 extra calls each year.” Says Gillian Edlin from Lifeline Loddon Mallee.
“I commend the work of Lifeline Loddon Mallee and more specifically the Sunraysia Lifeline project, which Stephen Hegedus and his amazing team have worked on for a long time, to get a local Lifeline call centre up and running.” Said Ms Benham.
“My lived experience is extensive and some might say traumatic, but I will continue to talk about it. I will continue to advocate for those who have had challenges and for those who care for those who have challenges. I see you; I hear you.” Says Ms Benham.
“The stigma is becoming less and less, and I am often asked to keep talking about it to remove that stigma that still does exist.
“Lifeline Loddon Mallee need an extra $150,000 across their sites to continue to be sustainable. Doesn’t seem like a lot. It’s only 150 of me raising $1500 each year doing things like the push up challenge.”
“You can still support Lifeline Loddon Mallee by donating through their website https://lifelinelm.org.au/ where $39 dollars can answer one call and make a huge difference within our community.”
