New Crime Statistics Agency data has revealed crime continues to increase across the Mildura Local Government Area, with rises recorded across a number of key offence categories.
The Nationals’ Member for Mildura, Jade Benham, said the figures reflect growing concerns about community safety across the region.
“These statistics show crime continues to trend in the wrong direction across Mildura, with local families, businesses and communities bearing the consequences,” Ms Benham said.
The latest figures show family violence-related serious assaults have increased by 55 per cent over the past 12 months, while total serious assaults have risen by 44 per cent. Theft from retail stores has also increased by 10 per cent.
Ms Benham said the local figures mirror broader trends being experienced across Victoria.
Data from the independent Crime Statistics Agency confirms that since Jacinta Allan became Premier in September 2023, total criminal offences across Victoria have increased by 23 per cent, residential aggravated burglaries have risen by 13 per cent, and family violence-related serious assaults have increased by 58 per cent.
“These figures show Victoria is less safe under the Allan Labor Government, with Labor’s weak crime laws failing victims and communities.
“Only The Nationals and Liberals in government will end the crime crisis and keep you safe.
“We will hire an additional 3,000 police officers and reopen every police station that has been closed or faced reduced hours under Labor.
“The Nationals and Liberals will back our police, strengthen the justice system and introduce tough new measures to both prevent and punish crime.
“We have a plan to stop the waste and end the corruption so we can bring crime rates down and keep our communities safe.”
