The Nationals Member for Mildura, Jade Benham, is encouraging local artists, organisations and community groups to apply for grants through Midsumma’s Regional Activation Program, which supports inclusive events and creative projects celebrating LGBTIQA+ pride in the lead-up to the Victoria’s Pride Street Party in February 2027.
Grants of up to $10,000 are available to support events and activities that showcase local LGBTIQA+ voices, stories and artistic contributions, and strengthen community connection and inclusion in regional communities.
Applicants can propose a range of creative projects, including visual arts, film, music, podcasts, live performances, community storytelling and workshops.
Almost 10,000 people took part in Victoria’s Pride regional events during the 2025ā26 season, demonstrating the important role regional communities play in celebrating diversity and inclusion.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for regional communities to tell their own stories and contribute to a broader celebration of diversity and inclusion,” Ms Benham said.
“This funding is there to support innovative and community-driven projects, and I’d love to see our region embrace that opportunity. I’ve long advocated for a Murray River Madi Gras ā a flotilla of fabulous celebrating pride and inclusion on one of our region’s most iconic waterways.
“I have no doubt there would be strong interest in supporting a creative concept of that nature if a local organisation or community group wanted to take the lead.
“I encourage local groups, councils and creatives to think big, apply for funding and showcase the inclusive and welcoming spirit of our region.”
Expressions of interest are now open and close on Monday 3 August 2026. More information is available at https://www.midsumma.org.au/victorias-pride/regional-activation-program/.
