Jade Benham, Member for Mildura, has this week urged the Allan Labor Government to prioritise the inclusion of Mallee Family Care in the upcoming 24/25 State Budget.
The critical need for support for young people in the region, particularly through the Education First Youth Foyer project is crucial.
The Education First Youth Foyer initiative provides stable and affordable housing aimed at assisting young individuals who aspire to pursue education but face challenges in living arrangements.
These challenges may arise from various circumstances, including the inability to reside at home. The project is designed to accommodate young individuals seeking to complete their final years of secondary school, as well as those embarking on apprenticeships, TAFE courses, or university degrees.
“The work Mallee Family Care has done will improve the lives of numerous young people in the area and surrounding districts.
“By offering a supportive environment conducive to education and personal development, the proposed center holds the promise of transformative opportunities for youth in Mildura.
“The Government must endorse Mallee Family Care’s application for the establishment of the Education First Youth Foyer in Mildura,” said Ms Benham.
“I commend the CEO, Teresa Jayet and her team who have worked tirelessly to do the groundwork to have this project shovel ready.
By allocating resources to this initiative, the Government can effectively address the pressing needs of young people in the region and contribute to their long-term success.
