Member for Mildura Jade Benham will play a key role in an important inquiry into the Office of the Victorian Information Commissioner.
Ms Benham is one of seven members of the Victorian Parliament’s Integrity and Oversight Committee, which will meet in Melbourne ahead of Tuesday’s resumption of Parliament.
The committee will hold separate public hearings with the Office of the Victorian Information Commissioner (OVIC) and with the former IBAC Commissioner the Hon Robert Redlich AM KC.
“The Committee will examine OVIC’s performance, with a focus on the 2021/22 annual report, and hear from the former IBAC Commissioner regarding his role at IBAC in 2021/22” Ms Benham said.
“As an exercise of the Committee’s function to review and monitor the performance of Victoria’s integrity agencies, public hearings provide the Committee with an invaluable opportunity to hear about any challenges they face, as well as any opportunities to improve the integrity system.”
The public hearings will be broadcast on the Victorian Parliament’s website from 1:15pm and will be replayed there at 6:00pm on Monday 31 July 2023.
