The Nationals’ Member for Mildura, Jade Benham, recently attended the Field & Game Australia Showcase at the Melbourne Gun Club, reaffirming her commitment to regional conservation and sustainability.
The Showcase provided an opportunity for attendees to explore the deep connections between field and game sports and conservation. The event highlighted the role of hunting in Australia’s food and cultural heritage, featuring activities such as clay target shooting and a meal prepared with locally sourced game.
Field & Game Australia CEO Lucas Cooke addressed the attendees, providing valuable insights into the organisation’s objectives and approach to conservation by protections and preserving Australia’s hunting heritage, wetlands, and wildlife.
“Mr Cooke offered a remarkable perspective on the role Field & Game Australia plays in conservation, particularly their work in biodiversity, pest management, and habitat preservation,” Ms Benham said.
“Field & Game Australia plays a vital role in conservation efforts, ensuring that our natural landscapes are managed sustainably while engaging the broader community in these important initiatives.”
Ms Benham reiterated The Nationals’ strong support for sustainability and conservation, acknowledging the critical role regional and rural Victorians play in environmental stewardship.
“Regional communities understand the importance of conservation better than anyone. Farmers and graziers are among the most dedicated conservationists, as they live on and work the land every day, deeply understanding its needs and challenges,” she said.
The event underscored the importance of responsible land management and sustainable practices, key principles supported by The Nationals and Field & Game Australia.
