Member for Mildura, Jade Benham, has called on the Minister for Health, to address public concerns directly: What is the Government concealing regarding Mildura Base Public Hospital?
Mildura Base Public Hospital is grappling with a $23 million deficit in the first half of the current financial year according to HeART data. This leaves constituents with increased costs and diminished services.
Despite the unwavering dedication of our hospital staff, who continue to work tirelessly in wards and emergency departments, the community is experiencing a decline in healthcare quality.
“Key statistics highlight a concerning trend, with hospital admissions down by 12%, a 14% reduction in births, a 6% decrease in dialysis treatments, and no rise in ambulance arrivals,” said Ms Benham.
“The lack of searchable annual reports on the website obstructs public access to critical data, raising transparency concerns.
“While Emergency Department wait times rank among the state’s worst, the absence of year-on-year comparative data leaves the public in the dark about the hospital’s performance.
“The Government’s refusal to release the masterplan for public scrutiny in a publicly managed hospital raises further questions about transparency.
“Whilst Mildura Base Public Hospital in now in government hands, what good is it if there’s so much secrecy and little to no improvement to healthcare for our tri-state region?
“Amid swirling rumours of government-mandated amalgamations, the community deserve the truth and deserve a better health care system.”
Well managed, community led, place based health care is what we deserve but the Labor Government can’t manage money and they certainly can’t manage our health system.
