Nationals Member for Mildura, Jade Benham, expressed her gratitude for being invited back to the VACSAL Statewide Basketball Classic this long weekend, emphasizing the importance of building relationships and community involvement beyond the basketball court.
Benham praised the tournament not only for its intense and high-quality basketball but also for providing a platform to connect with the ‘Sister Girls’ and their families.
“Accepting the invite was a no brainer, engaging in honest conversations, and fostering new relationships while reconnecting with old friends,” said Ms Benham.
“It’s more than a few games of basketball. It’s a chance to be involved at ground level, to understand the community’s needs, and to contribute meaningfully,”
“If my presence as a big centre can help facilitate a team in the event, I’m more than happy to do so.”
Jade Benham expressed her appreciation to the organisers and participants, stating, “Thanks for having me, ladies – it really does mean the world to me.”
Benham also commended the growth of local involvement in the VACSAL Statewide Basketball Classic, noting the increasing number of Mildura and Robinvale teams.
She celebrated the six Robinvale teams, including juniors and the A Grade men’s team, who have achieved success in the tournament on multiple occasions.
“The dedication of Mildura and Robinvale teams reflects the positive impact of such events on our local communities,” Benham added.
As a strong advocate for community engagement and sports development, Jade Benham continues to support initiatives that promote unity, understanding, and the well-being of communities.
